New Delhi [India], January 21 (ANI): Calling it a “collection of people’s feelings,” Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia praised the postal exhibition at the National Philatelic Museum on Tuesday. He also highlighted how the exhibition showcases historic hand-drawn postage stamps of great historical figures such as B.R. Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi, and Rabindranath Tagore.
“Our national philately museum is not just philately museum, but a collection of people’s feelings. People will be surprised to see the treasure of old stamps,” the Union Minister told reporters.
Earlier, Scindia also released a special postcard issued by India Post, commemorating 75 years of the Indian Republic and Constitution in Delhi, following which he praised the youth for participating enthusiastically in the programs organised at the museum on the Constitution and the Freedom Struggle.
“There was a time when the postal stamps were not designed by Corel (draw) or any software, but it was made by hand and their magnificence is shown when you see Rabindranath Tagore stamp, Babasaheb Ambedkar’s, Sardar Patel, Mahatma Gandhi’s stamp too. I am also happy to see that youth of today has joined with the museum to attend the 4-hour long program on Constitution, and on the freedom struggle…We are going to ensure the development of the postal department under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Scindia added.
During his visit, Scindia also had the opportunity to see letters written by Baba Saheb Ambedkar. “During the visit, I got the opportunity to see the historical letters written by the architect of the Constitution, Baba Saheb Ambedkar,” Scindia said on X.
The minister met and interacted with artists and collectors associated with philately.
“Along with meeting school children, there were also discussions with various artists and collectors associated with the field of Philately,” Scindia said on X.
The Union minister also praised the proposed Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (PKC-ERCP).
“Chambal Parbati link canal will be really beneficial for the adjacent areas. Farmers will be happy, agricultural irrigation will be increased and the ongoing days. With the help of (Madhya Pradesh CM) Mohan Yadav and Prime Minister Modi,” Scindia said.
The Modified Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal-ERCP (PKC-ERCP) Link Project is an inter-state project that merges the PKC link with the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP). This integration addresses issues like water sharing, cost-benefit distribution, and water exchange between the concerned states. (ANI)
