Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], September 1 (ANI): Launching a scathing attack against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the Kolkata rape and murder case, LoP and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday said that the state is in the hands of goons and rapists and that the CM should resign.
“There have been 7 incidents since yesterday… They are in contact with the TMC directly… Bengal is in the hands of goons and rapists… Mamata Banerjee is the root and the architect of this. Step Down, Mamata. She should resign. She is the main disease and virus in these types of incidents,” said Suvendu Adhikari.
He further added that the BJP will expose the CM and that she is the real reason behind such incidents.
“I request the doctors and the non-political people who are protesting, to address the actual issue… MLA Paresh Das is not threatening the BJP, he is speaking against the agitation called by the doctors on Sept 4… Mamata Banerjee is the real reason behind this. She should step down. Mamata Banerjee’s resignation and President’s rule is required… We BJP MLAs are ready to combat this situation. We will expose Mamata Banerjee…” he said.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Chandrima Bhattacharya demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation build a strong case in the RG Kar rape and murder case to ensure “the rapist is hanged.”
The TMC leader was holding a protest against the rape-murder case in Kolkata. She said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had directed the party’s Mahila Congress to stage a demonstration over the incident.
The brutal rape and murder of the trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has sparked a wave of protests in West Bengal and other parts of the country.
The trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9.
Doctors have been holding protests in different states demanding justice for the victims and enhanced security laws for healthcare professionals.
The incident has triggered a war of words between the BJP, with the latter demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The case has been transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation from the local police following an order from the Calcutta High Court.
Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer, at the hospital, has been arrested in connection with the incident. (ANI)
