Washington [US], July 5 (ANI): Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy’s latest project, ‘Steve’, is wrapping production this week in the UK. Murphy acts in a remake of Max Porter’s novel ‘Shy’, which he also produces with partner Alan Moloney under the Big Things Films label, reported Deadline.
The film is directed by Tim Mielants. Jay Lycurgo, known for his roles in ‘The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself’, Titans, and I May Destroy You, joins the main cast.
Cillian shared the picture with Porter and Lycurgo from the sets on his Instagram handle.

Steve, a remake of Porter’s ‘Shy’, takes place in the mid-1990s. The film depicts a key day in the lives of headteacher Steve (Murphy) and his pupils at a last-chance reform college in a society that has abandoned them.
As Steve struggles to safeguard the college’s integrity and approach closure, we see him struggle with his own mental health.
In parallel to Steve’s struggles, we meet Shy (Lycurgo), a troubled teen caught between his past and what lies ahead as he tries to reconcile his inner fragility with his impulse for self-destruction and violence.
Moloney and Murphy are producers. Director Mielants, who also helmed Berlin Film Festival Opener Small Things Like These. Porter wrote the screenplay. He and Murphy previously collaborated on the stage adaptation of the author’s Grief is the Thing with Feathers and the short film All of This Unreal Time.
Murphy has had a busy year, earning the Best Actor Oscar for Christopher Nolan’s Best Picture winner Oppenheimer, among many other big honours. He also appeared in his feature production debut, Small Things Like These, which was also directed by Mielants and shown at the Berlin Film Festival in February.
Next, he’s preparing for the Peaky Blinders film, which will begin filming later this year for Netflix. Murphy has also signed on for Blood Runs Coal, based on Mark A Bradley’s book on the murder of union leader Joseph Yablonski, reported Deadline. (ANI)
