New Delhi [India], February 1 (ANI): Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar on Saturday, expressed confidence in the Congress party’s prospects in the upcoming Delhi elections, stating that the party’s strength is synonymous with the country’s strength.
He emphasized that the people of Delhi have experienced governance under AAP, BJP, and Congress, and are aware of the differences between them.
“Everyone knows that the strength of Congress is the strength of the country. The people of Delhi have given a chance to all parties. They know the difference between the governance of AAP, BJP and Congress,” he said.
Shivakumar further highlighted Sheila Dikshit’s development-focused tenure as a model for governance, contrasting it with the “politics of hatred”. He asserted that Delhi needs a change and that only Congress can save the city.
“Sheila Dikshit created a model here during her tenure. She focused on development and did not do politics of hatred…Delhi needs change, Delhi needs Congress to save Delhi…,” he said.
As the election dates approach, the political atmosphere in the national capital has intensified, with Congress, BJP, and AAP vying against each other over various issues.
Congress leader Supriya Shrinate on Friday said that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal is going to lose his seat in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Her remarks followed a challenge from Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit, who asked Kejriwal to publicly answer questions at Jantar Mantar.
“Kejriwal himself is going to lose his seat… AAP is also going to lose the elections. You were in power for 10 years…but you have nothing to talk about, even today you keep cribbing…what did you do, that is what we want to know…he has become so upset because he knows that he will lose the election, this is the fear of defeat… and even a child of this country knows that BJP and Congress can never get unite,” she said earlier.
Earlier, Congress candidate from the New Delhi assembly constituency Sandeep Dikshit said that being an engineer, Kejriwal is saying such absurd things that a student of class 5 or 6 would not say.
“…He (Arvind Kejriwal) said that I have done so much work; I have just said that whatever you say, say it with a record. Today, at 3 pm, it will be clear that either Congress or AAP is speaking the truth… Both BJP and AAP are distributing cash to get votes; I want to ask them if they are in politics or the market?” the Congress leader said.
The Delhi assembly polls will be held in a single phase on February 5 and the counting of votes will take place on February 8.
The Congress, which was in power for 15 consecutive years in Delhi, has suffered setbacks in the last two assembly elections and has failed to win any seat. In contrast, the AAP dominated the 2020 assembly elections by winning 62 out of 70 seats while the BJP got only eight seats. (ANI)
