Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], July 11 (ANI): The Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC) will conduct a feasibility study for the Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor (EORC) project.
The proposed 135-kilometer-long Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor will run parallel to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, connecting Palwal in Haryana to Sonipat through Ghaziabad, Noida, and Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh.
It is estimated that 90 kilometers of the corridor will fall within Uttar Pradesh and the remaining 45 kilometers in Haryana.
The task of conducting the feasibility study of the Project has been assigned by the Uttar Pradesh Government.
This was revealed during the 28th meeting of the HRIDC Board of Directors held here today under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary, TVSN Prasad, who is also the Chairman of the HRIDC.
While enumerating the details of various rail projects being implemented by HRIDC, Managing Director of the Corporation Rajesh Agarwal said that feasibility studies are ongoing for the construction of a new rail line between Narwana and Uklana (approximately 27 kilometers) and a new chord line at Kurukshetra (approximately 10 kilometers). Besides this, the Railway Board has sanctioned the final location survey for the Karnal-Yamunanagar New Rail Line. The HRIDC is working to secure early approval from the Ministry of Railways.
He further informed that the Railway Board has approved the final location survey for the Farukhnagar-Jhajjar New Line, which aims to improve rail connectivity between the IGI Airport Delhi and Maharaja Agrasen Airport, Hisar.
He said that HRIDC is conducting a feasibility study to elevate the Kaithal railway track, including the Kaithal Railway Station, to eliminate already planned three level crossings.
Agarwal said that the KET Project, initially sanctioned on a cost-sharing basis between the Haryana Government and the Ministry of Railways, has received funding from both parties. With major viaduct construction nearing completion, the viaduct is expected to be commissioned by August 1, 2024, he added.
The Additional Chief Secretary, Public Works (Building and Roads) Department Anurag Agarwal, Special Secretary Monitoring and Coordination Priyanka Soni, Engineer-in-Chief (Roads), Public Works (Building and Roads) Department Rajeev Yadav, Executive Director of Railway Board at New Delhi Rajesh Kumar Garg, Chief Engineer of Railway Board at New Delhi Rajeev Ranjan Raju, Director of Finance at HRIDC Puneet Kathpalia and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
