Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 9 (ANI): Around 20 students and activists of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi Vidyarthi (BRSV), the student wing of Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS), were detained by police on Tuesday during a protest at Osmania University in Hyderabad.
A group of DSC aspirants and BRSV activists were protesting to demand the postponement of the upcoming DSC (District Selection Committee) examination by three months, until October.
The DSC exam, meant for the recruitment of teachers in government and local body schools, is scheduled to be conducted from July 17 to August 5.
The protest turned intense when the students attempted to burn an effigy of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. However, the police intervened and detained the students.
According to Osmania Police Station inspector Rajender, the DSC aspirants and BRSV students staged a protest demanding that the DSC exams be postponed.
“They tried to burn the CM’s effigy, but we stopped them. We have taken 20 people into preventive custody,” he said. (ANI)
