Jammu and Kashmir [India], September 30 (ANI): A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Gulshan Ground in Jammu to pay tribute and honour the sacrifice of Jammu and Kashmir Police Head Constable Bashir Ahmed, who laid down his life fighting terrorists in Kathua on September 28.

Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, took to his official handle on X and posted, “Last respects paid to J-K Police Head Constable Bashir Ahmed, who lost his life during an encounter in the Mandli area in Kathua yesterday.”

In another post, the Jammu ADGP posted, “A wreath-laying ceremony was held at Gulshan Ground, Jammu, to honor the supreme sacrifice of martyr HC Bashir Ahmed, who laid down his life fighting terrorists in village Kog (Mandli), District Kathua.”
“DGP Operations and Security J-K Nalin Prabhat, along with officers and family, paid rich tributes. J-K Police stands with his family during this difficult time. #RememberingOurHeroes#SupremeSacrifice,” read the post by ADGP Jammu.

A police personnel died while another sustained bullet injuries in the encounter with terrorits in village Kog (Mandli), in the Kathua district of Jammu division, officials said on Saturday.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu posted on X and said that one Head Constable died while an Assistant Sub-Inspector was injured in the incident.
“During the ongoing encounter in village Kog (Mandli), under the jurisdiction of Police Station Billawar, one police personnel, HC Bashir Ahmed, has sacrificed his life, and one ASI has sustained bullet injuries. Further details are awaited,” it said.
Officials on Saturday evening recovered the bodies of two terrorists in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir after an encounter broke out between police and terrorists, officials said on Saturday.
To identify the bodies, DNA samples were collected, said Javed Ahmad Matoo, DIG South Kashmir, added that incriminating materials, arms, and ammunition have also been recovered from the encounter site by the security forces, which includes 2 AK 47 rifles, 5 magazines, and pistols.
He further said that based on the specific input, it is suspected that one of the terrorists who was killed in the encounter is Umesh Ahmed Wani, a resident of Chawalgam village in Kulgam.
Three army personnel and one police personnel were injured earlier in the day during the same encounter between security officials and terrorists in Kulgam. However, the condition of injured security personnel is said to be stable.
As per the police, the security forces received information on late Friday night regarding the movement of terrorists in the Arigam area. The firing started during the search operation carried out by the security forces after terrorists started firing at the security officials.
The encounter began in the Adigam Devsar area of the Kulgam district and continued on Saturday morning.
Based on the specific intelligence input, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched a joint operation in the area. (ANI)
