New Delhi [India], February 8 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party’s National Spokesperson, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Saturday expressed confidence of his party’s win in the Delhi Assembly polls, asserting that a BJP government will be formed in the national capital.
Hussain said that people had recognised Aam Aadmi Party chief and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s true nature after eleven years in politics, claiming he had never been a “common man” but an income tax commissioner who had disguised himself as a common man.
Speaking with ANI on the day of counting of Assembly polls in Delhi, Hussain said, “A BJP government will be formed in Delhi. ‘Modi ke guarantee ki jeet hai.’ People have recognised the pretense of Arvind Kejriwal in eleven years, that he was never a common man, and was a income tax commissioner.”
“He came disguised as a common man and BJP completely exposed it. BJP is going to form the government with a huge majority,” Hussain said.
Meanwhile, according to an update from trends of the counting of votes posted by Election Commission of India (ECI) at 10:42 am, BJP was seen leading on 40 seats while AAP was leading on 30 seats.
Key constituencies include New Delhi, where AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is contesting against Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit and BJP’s Parvesh Verma.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi contested against BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress candidate Alka Lamba from Kalkaji constituency. The campaign saw sharp exchanges between leaders of the three parties.
Most exit polls released on Wednesday gave the BJP an edge over the AAP. However, AAP leaders said that the exit polls have historically underestimated the party’s performance. They expressed confidence in returning to power.
The AAP is aiming for a third consecutive term, while the BJP is striving to return to power after more than two decades in the National Capital.
