Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], December 22 (ANI): Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 74 schemes worth Rs 188.07 crore at Kanak Chowk, Dehradun, on Sunday.
The schemes include 36 completed projects at a cost of Rs 111.22 crore and 38 foundation stone projects valued at Rs 76.85 crore.
As part of these initiatives, the Chief Minister inaugurated electric vehicle charging stations at four locations in Dehradun and laid the foundation stones for two automated parking facilities and one surface parking lot, collectively costing around Rs 11 crore.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also flagged off three rescue and rehabilitation vehicles under efforts to prevent child beggary and inaugurated the letter management desk at the District Magistrate’s office in Dehradun.
The Chief Minister stated that the schemes span various sectors, including education, health, roads, drinking water, irrigation, flood protection, and urban development. These initiatives are expected to bring significant convenience to the residents of Dehradun and nearby areas.
The two automated parking facilities and one surface parking lot, being constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 11 crore, aim to ease traffic congestion in crowded areas of Dehradun and save time and resources. The three rescue and rehabilitation vehicles launched under the child beggary prevention initiative will play a crucial role in rehabilitating children involved in begging within the city.
The newly inaugurated letter management desk at the District Magistrate’s office will streamline and strengthen the tracking and management of official correspondence.
The Chief Minister noted that, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is committed to Uttarakhand’s comprehensive development. As part of the Dehradun Smart City Project, smart toilets have been installed, and smart water management initiatives have been introduced.
Additionally, smart schools have been established, and a state-of-the-art library with a capacity for 650 readers has been built at Lansdowne Chowk. To promote environmental protection, 30 electric buses are operational in the city. A 300-bed cancer hospital is under construction in Harrawala, and the Mental Health Institute in Selaqui has been upgraded.
Efforts are also being made to develop Dehradun as a model city. The city has been ranked among the five best in the country under the National Clean Air Program by the Ministry of Environment, Government of India.
The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s commitment to reducing air pollution in Dehradun. Four electric vehicle charging stations have been inaugurated, with work underway to set up charging stations at seven more locations. These facilities will not only provide convenient charging options for electric vehicle users but also contribute to environmental conservation. (ANI)
